From the Lawrence Daily World for April 12, 1910: “The story of an impure spring for water came to light when eight cases of typhoid fever occurred in an eastern Kansas town that state officials have declined to identify. There is a warning that clear water does not indicate purity and that boiling of water is needed in many cases. Mere clarity does not mean purity, officials stress.”
