Hundreds of youth and adult volunteers from the Heart of America Council, Boy Scouts of America, will conduct a service project or projects in their home communities as part of the 100th Anniversary celebration of the Boy Scouts of America.

Area projects include:

Boy Scout Troop 60, chartered to First Baptist Church in Lawrence, had a campout March 27-28 for new Scouts joining the troop this spring at the Lawrence VFW. New Scouts attending were Chris Geiss, Luke Hinkle, Austin Lemmons, Nick Maloun, Sam Kendrick, Michael Pate and Isaiah Nichols. For most of the Scouts, it was their first campout and they learned many new skills including cooking, setting up tents and carving. Older Scouts attending were Caelan Golledge, troop guide; Jake Keary, patrol leader; and Darren Rawlings, assistance senior patrol leader. Adult leaders who taught classes were Dave Ozaki, Jack Pate, Carol Stevenson, Chris Golledge, Dave Kendrick, Bob Lemons and Josh Nichols.
