Five Lawrence police cars and the Douglas County Sheriff’s Department K-9 unit are on the scene of a car stop in downtown Lawrence.

Around 2 p.m. Wednesday, officers pulled over a green four-door car in the city parking lot at Sixth and New Hampshire streets.

Police removed the driver and two passengers from the vehicle and at least three officers were searching the car.

Lawrence police spokesman Sgt. Bill Cory said the incident started as a simple car stop by patrol officers.

More information will be posted as it becomes available.

I saw that. 4-5 cop cars, so you had to know it was bad news.

Wonder if he had a K2 incense tree dangling from his mirror. Or perhaps the cops saw a scooby doo lighter in the console tray.

Rumor has it that they're from Topeka or Kansas City, Kansas.

Video shows all three not in cuffs (therefore custody). Also, why don't the police have under carriage inspection mirrors? Seeing the PO rolling around looking under the car was a bit comical.

wonder if they have found anything?

The dog doesn't seem to be going berserk as if there was some herbal substance. So I'm going to say driving while brown.

Five patrol cars and looks like they have uncovered zipo. And so goes the so-called "war on drugs."

I don't think you are supposed to have to point for the dog so that he knows what to sniff. I thought it there was something in the car, the dog would more than be able to smell it and respond.

Rumorman hasn't heard crime is down 50 percent in KCKS since 1990. Appears Lawrence attracts it's own crowd since gas prices are going up!

rumor_man 5 years, 1 month ago

That only means that there's still a 50% chance that they're from KC ks.

---we all have bad days, including dogs.

"cop cars" sounds like a kindergartner wrote that. try "police cruisers" or just "cruisers."

"driving while brown? playing the race card aweful early there.

Wow, they're still searching this car? Jeez, JW... follow up? I bet nothing happened... I hope those kids didn't give permission to search, if so.

"Driving while brown, perhaps?" "Wow, they're still searching this car?"

You'd think they'd found all the brown drivers in the car by now and the case would be ready for the DA.

arrest log on sheriff's office says 2 were arrested for obstructing the legal process... no possession charges.

Well, how could ljworld possibly ignore this story? It WAS just outside their building, right? Still five police cars for a non-event seems a little overdramatic.
