A portion of Sixth Street was blocked off early Sunday morning because a power pole was down on the street.

According to Douglas County Emergency dispatchers, someone hit a power pole on Sixth Street near the Rodeway Inn and the Ranch after 4 a.m. Police shut down the road around 5 a.m. for safety reasons. The road was expected to be closed for about two hours, but as of about 8:45 was still shut down.

Westar Energy reported about 155 customers in the area were without power.

"Someone" is going to have a nasty bump on their head this morning.

There was a policeman sitting at the barricade on 6th street doing nothing. Meanwhile 2 lane 6th Street traffic was being diverted to 1 lane 9th Street with no traffic control assistance.

Does anyone know if the power has been restored yet? I live in that area, but am stuck at work and cannot run home to check.
