At 7 a.m. Monday, the Kansas Turnpike plans to close its East Lawrence interchange, which is Exit 204 in North Lawrence.

Contractors are set to spend the next seven months rebuilding the interchange — adding lanes, connecting ramps, replacing toll booths and adding automated toll-payment machines — as part of an ongoing $130 million project that includes replacing Kansas River bridges and making other changes. Turnpike customers are advised to use either Exit 202, which is off McDonald Drive near the Hallmark Cards Inc. plant, or try the Tonganoxie-Eudora interchange, which is Exit 212, north of Kansas Highway 32.
