Mickelson, Woods win

Atlanta — Phil Mickelson capped off a tumultuous summer at home with a spectacular rally Sunday to win the Tour Championship.

Tiger Woods won the FedEx Cup and its $10 million bonus.


Gustafson wins CVS

Danville, Calif. — Sophie Gustafson won on the LPGA Tour for the first time in six years, cruising to a four-stroke victory over top-ranked Lorena Ochoa in the CVS/pharmacy LPGA Challenge.

Pernice claims debut

Cary, N.C. — Tom Pernice Jr. became the 15th player to win in his Champions Tour debut, holing a 35-foot birdie putt on the final hole.

Gainesville, Fla. — Florida quarterback Tim Tebow is back home after spending the night in the hospital with a concussion.

Upsets shake up AP poll

After a weekend in which four top-10 teams lost, No. 1 Florida, No. 2 Texas and No. 3 Alabama held their places in the Associated Press Top 25 poll, but 15 teams moved up or down at least three spots.
