In a surprise action, the County Commission called off a special $3.5 million bond election which had been scheduled for late November or early December to finance a joint city-county judicial and law enforcement center. The explanation was that the current legal structure did not allow for such an election at present and that laws would have to be changed before a vote could be valid.
