Veritas rolls, 58-8
Hutchinson ? Quarterback Nick Bennett threw for four touchdowns, while brothers Ethan Scott and Nate Scott scored three TDs apiece in Veritas Christian’s 58-8 football victory over Hutchinson Central Christian on Friday.
The game was called with 10:03 to play by the 45-point mercy rule.
Bennett completed 10 of 14 passes for 235 yards with no interceptions.
Nate Scott gained 156 yards rushing off 11 carries and scored on runs of 14 and 58 yards and had a 60 yard TD reception. He finished with two catches for 77 yards and had 42 yards off kick returns. Ethan Scott gained 66 yards off six carries and had four catches for 107 yards.
Hogan Randall had 20 tackles, four for loss. Preston Randall had nine tackles and two fumble recoveries. Bryce Boland had 12 tackles.
“We got better as the game went on. It seemed our conditioning came through,” coach Doug Bennett said. “We need to do a better job of controlling the interior line of scrimmage. I can’t complain about the effort, execution and the results.”
Veritas (4-0) will travel to Salina for a game against St. John Military on Friday.
