University Bridge Club announces results of its Sept. 19 meeting, with hosts Richard Quinn and Jo Anne Kready.

Blue winners were Florence McNicoll, first; Steven Bogler, second; Willie Stoltenberg, third; George Bocquin, fourth; and Richard Quinn, fifth.

Pink winners were Carolyn Harden, first; Alice Akin, second; Gini Wigington, third; Virginia Williams, fourth; and Isabelle Schaake, fifth.


Over the Rainbow Doll Club’s annual open meeting was Sept. 15 at the Lawrence Public Library. Special guests were Joyce Helberg, Regional IV Director for the United Federation of Doll Collectors and Debbie Tracy of Leawood.

Helberg shared information regarding the UFDC, and the Toni doll that Region IV is making a wardrobe for the 2010 UFDC convention. Tracy presented an informative and interesting program on EffanBee dolls including historical background, development, current owner and production. For the October meeting, members will be required to costume their club dolls for Halloween.


The Wednesday Afternoon Duplicate Bridge Club’s game on Sept. 16 was directed by Chris Lane. North-South winners were Bebe Huxtable and Wanna Roszel, first in A, B and C; Dianne Childs and Judy Hildreth, second in A; Gary Joyce and Mark Osborn, third in A and second in B; and Grant Sutton and Catherine Blumenfeld, fourth in A and third in B.

East-West winners were Steven Vossler and Ed Howard, first in A; Klee Zaricky and Betty Collier, second in A and first in B; Jack Flickinger and Marilyn Martin, third in A, second in B, and first in C; and Jean Khatib and Patricia Lechtenberg, fourth in A, third in B, and second in C.


The Thursday Morning Mentor Duplicate Bridge Club’s game on Sept. 17 was directed by Chris Lane. Winners were Doris Sindt and Lester Dalton, first in A; Barbara Figgins and Barbara McCorkle, second in A and first in B; John Stark and Willi Stark, third in A and second in B; and Debbie Bettinger and Louise Hopkins, fourth in A and third in B.

The Friday Afternoon Duplicate Bridge Club’s game on Sept. 18 was directed by Virginia Seaver. North-South winners were John Oxley and Elizbeth Jankord, first in A; Sally Taylor and Yvonne Hedges, second in A and first in B; V’Anne Desch and Virginia Hamilton, third in A, second in B, and first in C; and Lester Dalton and Mary Fenlon, fourth in A.
