VNA to conduct seasonal flu clinic

Douglas County Visiting Nurses, Rehabilitation and Hospice Care is offering seasonal flu vaccinations for anyone 18 and older.

The clinic will be from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday in the cafeteria at Lawrence High School, 1901 La.

The cost is $24 unless people have Medicare Part B, which will be billed. Judy Bellome, executive director, said it’s the first time the organization is offering vaccinations to the community.

This year, the VNA also is providing vaccinations for a Lawrence business and county employees in addition to their own employees and patients.

To qualify for a discounted rate, they had to buy a certain amount of vaccine.

“So we thought, ‘Hey, let’s just open it up and make it easier for people.'” Bellome said. “We will give shots for as long as we can — as long as we have supply.”

She said additional clinics will be scheduled in October.
