Monday night, after twice overcoming six-run deficits, the Royals beat the powerful Boston Red Sox, 12-9, to improve to 11-3 since Sept. 7.

A year ago, after flopping around all season, the Royals rolled through September on an 18-8 tear.

The Royals seized an 11-9 lead with their six-run sixth, the most they’ve scored in one inning since Sept. 24, 2008.
