Police were searching Saturday morning for suspects in connection with a strongarm robbery that occurred late Friday.
According to Lawrence Police Sgt. Michael MacLaren, a 19-year-old Springfield, Mo., man was walking down an alley in the 1000 block of Ohio at about 11:30 p.m. when he was approached by three or four male subjects who demanded money.
The men stole cash from the victim and fled in an unknown direction. The victim was unsure of the mens' race or appearance.
The victim, a KU student, was not injured in the incident.
Anyone with information is asked to call the Crime Stoppers hot line at 843-TIPS.

The thugs are learning that it's easy to rob the oft-on foot KU students. It's easy; go to the student ghetto, hang around, and wait for the one guy walking alone. The students living there need to travel with friends.

Also, don't walk down the goddamn alleys. I understand that there are a lot of alley accesses that lead to housing, but just stick to the main roads until your block comes up.

All the crack smoking baby momma's moved here from the cities to get on the dole in liberal Lawrence. All the builders over built apartments in Lawrence. There's five apartments for every single college student now. Their still building more apartments. So all the riff-raff from the city moved to Lawrence, with their heard of kids. All the inter city thugs come over on the weekend to chip'em and dip'em. Lol.
So, they rob a few pilgrim college students on the way back to the city.

Today was a first for my 12 yr old. He actually witnessed the gutter punks/transients taking food out of the trash bin in front of Tellers and eating it.
In the 13 years I've lived in and around lawrence, I've not noticed things getting so out of control. Was going to move back, but I'm going to watch and see how it plays out.

The "liberal chorus"? I've never heard a liberal blame a president for robberies happening on a local level. It was your "logic", lawrenceguy40, that made that connection.
Robberies happen because people need/want stuff they don't have. More people in this country need/want stuff they don't have right now because the economy sucks. The economy sucks because of a myriad of reasons, most of which can't be blamed directly on George W. Bush OR Barack Obama, but many of which happened under GWB's watch.
You're like the baseball announcer who says, "This guy is batting .372 against lefthanders when he's got a 2-1 count during day games following night games in months with fewer than six letters." None of the connections really connect.

Don't forget that the thugs have access to the news too, once they find out that robbing students down in the Mass/Student Ghetto area works without much trouble, the word will spread and it will happen all the time. Easy pickins is sadly what we have become.
