Education program focuses on schools

Educators and public television are teaming up on a project to get people talking about the future of schools.

The project is called “Reading, Writing and a Worthwhile Education for Kansas Kids.”

The first part will be a one-hour program at 7 p.m. Wednesday on KTWU-TV that will feature panels discussing what they believe should be the educational priorities of Kansas.

The second part includes “watch and talk parties,” which are taking place throughout the state either immediately following the program or at a later time of the party host’s choosing.

To learn about participating in a watch party, go to the Web site of the Kansas Learning First Alliance at klfa.org.

The broadcast is sponsored by KTWU and the Kansas Learning First Alliance, a coalition of groups representing school boards, administrators, teachers, parents and the Kansas State Department of Education.
