University Bridge Club announces results of its Sept. 12 meeting, with hosts Karen and Roz Zimmerer, Hazel Stellmacher and Sadie Deaton.

Blue winners were Dale Kring, first; Willie Stoltenberg, second; George Bocquin, third; Alice Akin, fourth; and Al Smith, fifth.

Pink winners were Wanda Kring, first; Lois Liebert, second; Florence McNicoll, third; Carol Smith, fourth; and Joan VanNice, fifth.


The Lawrence Mortar Board Alumni Club will conduct its annual potluck supper with Kansas University’s active Mortar Board chapter at 5 p.m. Sept. 27 at the home of Mary Loveland, 747 N. 1500 Road. Alumni of any university Mortar Board chapter are welcome to attend the supper as well as participate in several other social gatherings of the club throughout the year. The Wednesday Afternoon Duplicate Bridge Club’s game on Sept. 9 was directed by Chris Lane. North-South winners were Steven Vossler and Larry Weatherholt, first in A; Virginia Eddy and Madelyn Jenks, second in A and first in B; Mary Fenlon and Janice Hollowell, third in A; Virginia Seaver and Charles Hedges, fourth in A; Sally Taylor and Yvonne Hedges, second in B; and Ann Thompson and Gary Joyce, third in B and first in C.

East-West winners were David Piro and Paul Heitzman, first in A; Jan O’Connor and Lois Clark, second in A, and first in B and C; Mona Bell and Carol Ball, third in A, and second in B and C; and Suzanne Wassmer and Marilyn Martin, fourth in A and third in B.


The Thursday Morning Mentor Duplicate Club’s game on Sept. 10 utilized the Howell movement and was directed by Chris Lane. Winners were Barbara McCorkle and Lester Dalton, first in A; Debbie Bettinger and Eldon Herd, second in A; Chris Lane and Sheri Dieterich, third in A; Nita Scales and Judy Pease, fourth in A and first in B; and John Stark and Willi Stark, second in B.


The Friday Afternoon Duplicate Bridge Club’s game on Sept. 11 was directed by Virginia Seaver. North-South winners were Harry Shaffer and Grant Sutton, first in A; Nita Scales and Mary Fenlon, second in A; Lois Clark and Kent McCullough, third in A; Sally Taylor and Klee Zaricky, first in B; and Chris Lane and Carol Ball, second in B.

East-West winners were Steven Vossler and James Masilamani, first in A; Madelyn Jenks and Mona Bell, second in A and first in B; Dick Shaffer and Jack Flickinger, third in A, second in B and first in C; and Catherine Blumenfeld and Jolene Andersen, second in C.


The Monday Evening Duplicate Bridge Club’s game on Sept. 14 utilized a Howell movement and was directed by Chris Lane. Winners were James Masilamani and Steven Vossler, first in A; Peter Petillo and Jerry Sloan, second in A; Adelaide Nyquist and Judy Bevan, third in A, and first in B and C; Emily Foster and Albert Ballard, fourth in A, and second in B and C; and Bill Allen and John Fittell, fifth in A.
