Baker, Haskell football look to end losing skids

After losing to ranked teams in its first two games, Baker University’s win-starved football team will meet Avila College today in Kansas City, Mo.

Kickoff will be at 6 p.m. at Rockhurst High’s field.

Meanwhile, Haskell Indian Nations University also will be attempting to halt a two-game skid when the Fightin’ Indians play at MacMurray College in Jacksonville, Ill.

Kickoff will be at 2 p.m. at the Highlanders’ Freesen Field.

Baker opened with a 34-14 loss to Missouri Valley, ranked No. 13 in this week’s NAIA poll, before losing 45-13 to No. 7 MidAmerica Nazarene in Baldwin City.

Avila edged Doane College, 9-6, in its opener, then bowed, 56-13, to MidAmerica Nazarene two weeks ago. The Eagles were idle Saturday.

Haskell opened with a 53-12 thumping of Trinity Bible three weeks ago. Since then, the Indians have fallen to McPherson (61-6) and Rhodes (47-16), both at Haskell Stadium.

MacMurray is winless in two starts with losses to Beloit (39-22) and Aurora (32-28). HINU rocked the Highlanders, 44-26, last year at Haskell Stadium.
