Volunteering is ticket to Renaissance Festival

The Recovery and Hope Network needs volunteers to help run a funnel cake booth at the Renaissance Festival in Bonner Springs, which runs weekends through Oct. 18, plus Columbus Day. Half-day shifts from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. and 2 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. are available. Costumes will be provided and required for those who work the counter. In exchange for service, volunteers will receive two tickets to the festival for use at their convenience.

Immediate needs

• Family Promise of Lawrence is in need of 10 volunteers to help staff a fundraising dinner and auction event from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Sept. 20 at Maceli’s, 1031 N.H. Contact Samantha Snyder at samantha@lawrencefamilypromise.org.

• Centro Hispano needs volunteers for the Festival of Cultures from noon to 5 p.m. Sept. 27 at South Park. Volunteers are needed for setup, cleanup and to help with activities during the festival. In addition, participants are sought to display their culture in the form of a table display or by performing music or dance. • AARP is looking for tax counselors for the elderly. Volunteers should have enough basic tax knowledge to prepare their own tax returns. Returns will be filed electronically. Basic computer skills are required. Contact Jack Connelly at connjac @aol.com or 865.3985.
