Painter selected as Lawrence ArtWalk featured artist

Linda McKay, the featured artist for the 2009 Lawrence ArtWalk, will be honored during a reception from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday at Wink Eyewear, 806 Mass.
McKay will be signing copies of this year’s poster, which features an acrylic painting called “Great Walls.” Her primary medium is watercolor, and she has had her works selected for shows at Wichita Art Museum, Lawrence Own Your Own and the Kansas City Artists’ Coalition Regional Show. She has lived in Lawrence since 1970 and is a member of the Kansas Watercolor Society.
The reception also will celebrate the 15th anniversary of the ArtWalk, which has featured 217 artists and eight artist groups through the years.
This year’s ArtWalk is scheduled from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Oct. 10 and noon to 6 p.m. Oct. 11. It will feature around 50 artists at 21 sites in and around Lawrence. Guide maps will be available at Wink Eyewear and other locations around Lawrence. More information on the ArtWalk can be found at www.lawrenceartwalk.org.
A preview of artists who will participate in the ArtWalk is on display at Wink Eyewear. Hours are 11 a.m.-7 p.m. Monday through Saturday and noon-4 p.m. Sunday.
