From the Lawrence Daily World for Sept. 12, 1909: “There is a great wave of sentiment in Kansas for municipal ownership of water systems. Lawrence is not currently among them since its private water system ownership seems to be doing all that is necessary. … Wells-Fargo has offered to carry express items to all who suffered flooding from the recent eight-inch rain.”
