Jessica Ellebracht and Quail Run School are winners thanks to Hy-Vee’s Smiles for Education drawing.

“I was really surprised,” the fifth-grader said. “I couldn’t believe it.”

Ellebracht entered her name in the Smiles for Education drawing at the Sixth Street Hy-Vee after she saw her sister do it.

“I just had to sign my name on a piece of paper,” said Jessica.

It was announced at a school assembly on Friday that she won a new MacBook laptop computer and $5,000 for her school.

The Smiles for Education program picks 10 winners each week from across the nation.
