Nine Boy Scouts from Troop 53 attended Tetons High Adventure Base in Wyoming July 26-31. The Scouts participated in a COPE (Challenging Outdoor Personal Experience) course, went fly fishing and whitewater rafting. Scouts attending were Conner Chestnut, John Chumbley, Zach Chumbley, Dawson Conway, Josh Ideus, Alex McKinsey, Justin Saathoff, Ryan Schulteis and Joey Waisner.

Local elementary schools will host “School Night for Scouting,” events next week for boys in first through fifth grades and their families. Dates and locations are listed below and also at www.hoac-bsa.org:

• 6:30 p.m. Tuesday meeting at Broken Arrow School.

• 7 p.m. Tuesday meetings at Hillcrest, Kennedy and Sunflower School schools. Families from Cordley, Schwegler and Wakarusa Valley schools will meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday at First Presbyterian Church, 2415 Clinton Parkway.

• 6 p.m. Thursday meeting at New York School.

• 6:30 p.m. Thursday meeting at Woodlawn School.

• 7 p.m. Thursday meetings at Deerfield, Langston Hughes, Pinckney, Prairie Park, Quail Run and Sunset Hill schools.
