Committee for KU dean search named

Kansas University on Thursday named a search committee to find a new dean of the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences.

Kathleen McCluskey-Fawcett, director of the University Honors Program and professor of psychology, will chair the committee and direct a nationwide search.

Greg Simpson is serving as the interim dean after Joseph Steinmetz left the position for Ohio State University.

Other committee members are Ken Audus, dean of the School of Pharmacy; Ann Cudd, professor of philosophy and associate dean of the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences; Derrick Darby, associate professor of philosophy; Charles Eldredge, Hall Distinguished Professor of American Art and Culture; Jolene Fairchild, budget officer, College of Liberal Arts and Sciences; Steve Hawley, professor of physics and astronomy; Michelle Hayes, associate professor and associate chair of dance; Mary Anne Jordan, professor of visual art; Bill Staples, professor and chair of sociology; Don Steeples, senior vice provost; Joy Ward, associate professor of ecology and evolutionary biology; Michael Wade Smith, student; and Tom Laming, KU alumnus and portfolio manager with Scout Investment Advisors.
