Johnson Hole-In-One: Monte Johnson used a 9-iron to card a hole in one on the 126-yard No. 2 hole at Alvamar Country Club on Sept. 1. Jack Hinton witnessed the shot.

Gollier Hole in One: Bo Gollier used an 8-iron to ace the 149-yard No. 17 hole at Lawrence Country Club. Garth Terlizzi, Joe Jones and Scott Simpson witnessed the shot.

Benefit 5k: Head for the Cure 5k, a race to benefit the Chris Anthony Brain Tumor Research Fund and Brain Tumor Trials Collaborative, will be Sept. 13 along the South Lawrence Trafficway bike path. For information, go to www.headforthecure.org.

Softball Tournament: The Save 2nd Base Softball Tournament Batting Against Breast Cancer will be Oct. 3 at Lyons Field. Entry fee is $150 for Co-Ed teams. Each team is guaranteed two games. All proceeds go to Nancy Jones to help fight breast cancer. Teams will need to pay the Monday before the tournament, Sept. 28. Firebird Clinic: The Little Firebird Spirit Clinic is coming up for girls ages preschool through sixth grade Sunday, Oct. 4th from 1-3:30 p.m. at Free State High School, Fee is $30. Walk-ins are welcome. Along with the clinic, all participants will receive a T-shirt, pom pons, and will get to cheer at the Free State vs. Olathe North football game on Oct. 9. Injury Clinic: OrthoKansas, will host its Sports Injury Clinics on Saturday mornings from 8:30-10 am, for junior high & senior high athletes who have sustained a recent or acute injury. The clinics will begin Saturday, Sept. 5, and run through Saturday, Oct. 31. No appointment is necessary, but all patients will be seen on a first-come, first-serve basis.
