Alvamar pro Towner makes cut

? Alvamar Country Club golf professional Randy Towner fired his second straight 1-under-par 71 on Friday and has made the cut at the Senior PGA Professional National Championship.

Towner had two birdies and a bogey on the Dye Course, finishing 36 holes at 142 — a stroke better than the cutoff point.

The field was trimmed to the low 70 scorers and ties, with 77 players advancing at 1-underpar 143 to play the final two rounds at the Wanamaker Course. The 264-player field features PGA Professionals that are at least 50 years of age, who qualified through one of the 41 PGA sectionals.

The top eight finishers, including ties, will receive exemptions into the 2010 Senior PGA Professional National Championship. In addition, the top five finishers will be exempt into the Champions Tour National Finals at TPC Scottsdale.
