100 years ago: KU reaches right-of-way agreement

From the Lawrence Daily World for Oct. 30, 1909: “R.W. Hocker and F.P. Dickson, promoters of the interurban line which proposes to build up the south side of the Kaw Valley, were in Lawrence today looking over the situation. ‘We plan no grandstand play or bluster,’ said Dickson. … The Lawrence Railway and Light Co. has accepted the terms offered by the university for a right of way across the campus. That settles a dispute that threatened to leave KU without a car line.”
