Children can participate in a trick-or-treat hike Friday night at Prairie Park Nature Center, 2730 Harper St., more than a week before Halloween.

Lawrence Parks and Recreation will present “Where the Kansas Wild Things Are” from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Friday at the nature center.

Youngsters can put on their costumes for a hike around Mary’s Lake where spiders, bats and “not-too-spooky” monsters can be found along the trails. The nature center will also provide cookies and cider.
