Kansas volleyball sweeps

? Kansas University junior Melissa Manda dug up a team-best 19 digs, and senior Melissa Grieb added a season-high 14 on Wednesday as the KU volleyball team swept its second straight opponent — Texas Tech.

KU won, 25-17, 25-17 and 25-20, to improve to 11-8 overall, 4-6 in the Big 12.

Tech fell to 0-9 and 2-16.

The Red Raiders struggled against an efficient Kansas defense as the Jayhawks out-dug TTU 57-48 and held Tech to a .050 attack percentage. KU’s front row also provided a solid line of defense, as senior Paige Mazour led the team with five block assists. Sophomores Allison Mayfield and Lauren Hagan also had multiple blocks with three and two, respectively.

Mayfield had 15 kills. Brittany Williams and Karina Garlington had eight apiece.

KU will play host to Missouri on Saturday. Match time is 7:30 p.m. at Horejsi Center.
