Fire investigators have determined a fire at a Lawrence apartment complex on Sunday was caused accidentally, according to a city news release.

The fire at Fifth and Wisconsin streets was started by discarded smoking materials, investigators said Tuesday.

Several apartment units were damaged in the fire, which caused $250,000 in damage, the news release said.
