25 years ago: Committee to explore waterside resorts in Kansas

The Kansas Committee on Energy and Natural Resources was discussing possible incentives to attract developers of waterside resorts in Kansas. Sen. Fred Kerr headed the groups and said Kansas was underselling the sites for such development.

Central Junior High pupils concluded a month devoted to physical conditioning programs with the popular Mustang Fun Run.

State Atty. Gen. Robert Stephan agreed to investigate whether the process used by the Kansas Board of Regents to develop a plan to cut graduate programs at Emporia State University violated the state’s open meetings law.

An unarmed plane carrying four American CIA employees on a surveillance mission in rebel territory near San Salvador crashed into a volcano during a heavy rainstorm. All four Americans died and there was talk of sabotage of the plane, although most felt the bad weather was the cause of the crash.
