QB Brown sparks Baker past Benedictine, 29-21
Baldwin City ? Mack Brown completed 30 of 44 passes for 230 yards and two touchdowns, and the Baker University football team defeated Benedictine, 29-21, on Saturday.
Richie Bryant caught a score and ran for another one for the Wildcats, who improved to 3-3. Bryant finished with 134 rushing yards on 24 carries.
Penalties plagued Benedictine, which committed 12 penalties for a total of 143 yards.
The Wildcats won the battle of passing yards, 236-162, and intercepted Benedictine quarterback Ryan Kelly.
Kelly was 17-of-31 for 162 yards and two touchdown tosses.
Baker more than doubled its time of possession over Benedictine, holding the ball for 53:57, compared to Benedictine’s 21:50.
Benedictine has now lost four of its last five games. Baker has won three of four.
Baker will travel to Graceland for a 1:30 p.m. kickoff on Saturday.
