Poet’s Showcase: ‘The Collateral Tears of War’
Child bodies lie dead in the street
Blood flows from mortal wounds
of heart and body
It matters not the color, the gender, the religion
Nor the country,
or city.
or town
It matters not the creed,
the cause,
the belief,
the greed
That propelled the bullets of any war to penetrate
These child bodies of anyone
What matters most are the tears of grief and heartbreak
Of a mother,
a father,
a brother,
a sister,
a family
Whose joychild was assassinated in a nanosecond
For no earthly reason
Never to giggle, to laugh, to run, and to play
Never to love and feel love again on this barren dirt patch of earth
