100 years ago: Officer shot in bank robbery dies

From the Lawrence Daily World for Oct. 17, 1909: Ross Bullock is now officially a murderer as well as a bank robber. Officer Pringle whom Bullock shot has died. Big rewards are being set up for the capture of the 18-year-old who continues to be sighted, but not caught, in this region. A collection also is being taken for the Pringle family. Bullock robbed about $1,000 from the Eudora bank before shooting officer Pringle here. . . . The big revival at the Baptist Church continues and last night there were 16 conversions during two sermons and a meeting. The Rev. M.F. Ham has been quite an attraction for the revival. . . . A linotype mechanic was in town today to set up the new machine for the KU Alumni Association. The machine will be used for alumni printing purposes and will be in the basement of Fraser Hall. . . . A bank failure in Mineral Point, Wis., has led to the suicide of an executive and a fatal heart attack for his mother-in-law when she heard about the death.
