Leona Lewis punched during book signing

London — A young man punched singer Leona Lewis in the head as she signed autographs and posed for photographs at a book signing session in central London on Wednesday, her spokesman said.

Stuart Bell said Lewis, 24, had been meeting members of the public at Waterstone’s book store in Piccadilly in central London for about 90 minutes when a man from the line came up and hit her. He was immediately led away by security guards and later arrested by police.

Bell said Lewis, who was launching her new autobiography “Dreams,” was shaken up by the incident and went to see a doctor as a precaution.

Lewis shot to fame after winning the “X Factor” reality show in 2006, and her powerful voice has led to comparisons with Mariah Carey and Whitney Houston.

London’s Metropolitan police said a 29-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of assault and is being held in custody.

Avril Lavigne files for divorce

Los Angeles — Court records show Avril Lavigne has filed for divorce from her musician husband after three years of marriage.

Lavigne filed for divorce from Sum 41 singer Deryck Jason Whibley on Friday in Los Angeles.

The couple were married in July 2006 and have no children together. Lavigne cited “irreconcilable differences.”

The 25-year-old punk-pop singer burst to fame with her 2002 debut album “Let’s Go.”

Lavigne is asking a ruling to block Whibley from receiving spousal support.

Court records show Whibley was granted a request to add Lavigne’s last name to his name in December 2007.

Mandy Patinkin guest stars on ‘Three Rivers’

Los Angeles — Mandy Patinkin is returning to CBS — and he’s bringing a personal story line with him.

The network says the former “Criminal Minds” star will make a guest appearance on the medical drama “Three Rivers.” He’ll play an aspiring organ donor.

Patinkin received corneal implants, donated by the families of a 13-year-old girl and a 12-year-old boy, to correct a disease that distorts the shape of the cornea and severely impairs vision.

The 56-year-old actor who attended Kansas University asked to be released from his role as FBI profiler Jason Gideon on CBS’ “Criminal Minds” in 2007, citing creative differences.

“Three Rivers,” which airs on Sundays, explores the lives of organ donors, recipients and surgeons.

Taylor Swift on cloud 9 after 6 AMA nods

Nashville, Tenn. — Taylor Swift says she is “absolutely walking on a cloud” over her six nominations for the American Music Awards.

“I’ve never been nominated six times for any award show,” the country star said Tuesday before a benefit concert in Nashville. “This is just such a wonderful day for me.”

Her tally, announced on Oct. 13, even beat late superstar Michael Jackson, with five nods, and rapper Eminem, with four.

“It’s the 13th today, and 13 is my lucky number, and that’s when I found out about the AMAs. It’s like, I swear, good things happen on the 13th for me, and I can’t believe all those nominations.”

The 19-year-old is up for the AMA’s big award, artist of the year, alongside Jackson, Lady Gaga, Eminem, and rock band Kings of Leon.

Pro wrestler, music video icon Albano dies

New York — “Captain” Lou Albano, who became one of the most recognized professional wrestlers of the 1980s after appearing in Cyndi Lauper’s “Girls Just Want to Have Fun” music video, died Wednesday. He was 76.

Albano, whose real name was Louis Vincent Albano, died in Westchester County in suburban New York, said Dawn Marie, founder of Wrestlers Rescue, an organization that helps raise money for the health care of retired wrestlers. He died of natural causes, Marie said.

World Wrestling Entertainment called him one of the company’s “most popular and charismatic legends.”

With his trademark Hawaiian shirts, wiry goatee and rubber bands hung like piercings from his cheek, Albano was an outsize personality who, in a career spanning nearly five decades, was known as much for his showmanship as for his talent in the ring.

His fame skyrocketed when he appeared in Lauper’s landmark 1983 music video, playing a scruffy, overbearing father in a white tank top who gets shoved against a wall by the singer.

Bodyguard: Anna Nicole injected with drugs

Los Angeles — An anguished bodyguard, saying he had to tell what he knew about Anna Nicole Smith’s death “or I’m going to die,” testified Wednesday that he saw her boyfriend-lawyer Howard K. Stern inject her with a sedative at a time before her death when she was begging for something to help her sleep.

Maurice Brighthaupt said he had seen Stern inject Smith with medications four or five times in Florida and the Bahamas, and also watched the celebrity model’s psychiatrist, Dr. Khristine Eroshevich, inject her once but did not specify the drug. He said he also saw Smith inject herself twice.

Brighthaupt’s testimony came during a preliminary hearing to determine if Stern, Eroshevich and Dr. Sandeep Kapoor will stand trial for conspiring to illegally provide Smith with controlled substances,

All three have pleaded not guilty. The defendants are not charged with Smith’s death at a Florida hotel in 2007, which was ruled an accidental overdose.
