Health department to host town hall meeting Thursday on swine flu

The Lawrence-Douglas County Health Department will host a town hall meeting on the H1N1 influenza virus, commonly known as swine flu, and the vaccination for it.

The meeting will be at 7 p.m. Thursday on the second floor of the Community Health Facility, 200 Maine.

The meeting will be led by Dan Partridge, director of the health department, and Dr. Christopher Penn, of the Internal Medicine Group, 4525 W. Sixth St.

Community members unable to attend the meeting or who would like to submit questions in advance may do so by e-mailing info@ldchealth.org.

Also, a special 6News program, “H1N1: The Truth About Swine Flu,” offers an in-depth look at the issue. The program compares the H1N1 virus to previous ones, offers advice on how to protect yourself against the deadly virus, talks about whether you should get the vaccination, and offers advice on what measures to take if you get sick.

The show will air on Sunflower Broadband Channel 6 at 8 p.m. Oct. 15, Oct. 23 and Oct. 27. The show also is available on Video On Demand.
