Kenny St. Pierre, a linebacker for Haskell Indian Nations University, has been named defensive player of the week for NAIA independent teams.
St. Pierre, a 6-foot, 200-pound sophomore from Wagner, S.D., had 15 tackles (nine solo) along with three forced fumbles and a fumble recovery in Saturday’s 14-12 loss to Kansas Wesleyan.
On the season, St. Pierre has forced seven fumbles and recovered four. He leads the Fightin’ Indians in tackles for loss (10.5) and is second in tackles (62) and sacks (3.5).
