Veritas tops Cair Paravel
Ethan Scott had 27 rushes for 245 yards and five touchdowns and threw a TD pass as Veritas Christian started fast then held on for a 46-39 football victory over Topeka Cair Paravel on Friday.
Scott scored on runs of 1, 34, 1, 29 and 56 yards, and he threw a 27-yard TD pass to Ethan Kay.
Andrew Harvey recorded the Eagles’ other touchdown when he recovered a blocked punt in the end zone.
“It was a good win,” Veritas coach Doug Bennett said. “We played extremely well in the first half. They scored with no time left in the first half, and that took a little wind out of our sails, and they made some good adjustments to our ground game. But our defense … we played well defensively.”
Hogan Randall was credited with 21 tackles, and Tim Kramer had 12 stops, including two for losses.
“It was a good for us,” Bennett said. “It was some good, tough competition. We found some things we need to work on.”
Veritas (6-0) will play host Friday to Kickapoo Indian Nation.
