University Bridge Club announces results of its Oct. 3 meeting, with hosts Mary Kanous and Gini Wigington.

Blue winners were Lois Liebert, first; Ray Ikenberry, second; Janet Dunn, third; Walt Hicks, fourth; and Rhetta Jo Noever, fifth.

Pink winners were Carolyn Harden, first; Carolyn Jordan, second; Virginia Williams, third; Karen Zimmerer, fourth; and Edna Galle, fifth.

The Wednesday Afternoon Duplicate Bridge Club‘s game on Sept. 30 was directed by Chris Lane. North-South winners were Ed Howard and Harry Shaffer, first in A; Jan O’Connor and Eleanor Patton, second in A and first in B and C; Dianne Childs and Judy Hildreth, third in A; and Grant Sutton and Catherine Blumenfeld, fourth in A and second in B.

East-West winners were David Piro and Paul Heitzman, first in A; Virginia Seaver and Madelyn Jenks, second in A; Shari Krentzel and Jean Khatib, third in A and first in B; Sally Taylor and Yvonne Hedges, fourth in A and second in B; Lois Clark and Shirley Reese, third in B; and Mona Bell and Nita Scales, first in C.

The Thursday Morning Duplicate Mentor Game on Oct. 1 was directed by Chris Lane. Winners were Debbie Bettinger and Ann Thompson, first; Marilyn Martin and Virginia Seaver, second; Earl Core and Eldon Herd tied in third with Jean Khatib and Lester Dalton; and Patricia Lechtenberg and Grant Sutton, fifth.

The Friday Afternoon Duplicate Bridge Club’s game on Oct. 2 was directed by Virginia Seaver. North-South winners were Ed Howard and James Gunn, first in A; Harry Shaffer and Lynn Hui, second in A; Sally Taylor and Virginia Seaver, third in A; Earle Core and Charles Hedges, first in B; and Janice Hollowell and Jean Otney, first in C.

East-West winners were David Piro and Paul Heitzman, first in A; Catherine Blumenfeld and Lois Clark, second in A and first in B and C; and Don Daugherty and Harry Talley, third in A and second in B.

The Monday Evening Duplicate Bridge Club’s game on Oct. 5 was directed by Virginia Seaver. North-South winners were Clyde Romer and Steven Phelps, first in A and B; James Masilamani and Steven Vossler, second in A; Lois Clark and Virginia Seaver, third in A; and Jim Stewart and Emily Foster, first in C.

East-West winners were Peter Petillo and Donna Johnson, first in A; Jolene Andersen and Patrick Musick, second in A and first in B and C; Eldon Herd and Shari Krentzel, third in A and second in B; and Ann Thompson and Eleanor Patton, second in C.

The Betty Washington Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution met Sept. 19 at Watkins Community Museum of History. After the DAR ritual and flag salute, members shared something interesting they did over the summer. The president general’s message, National Defense and constitution report was read. Committee and officers reports were also given. The program of the day was Rupert Pate regarding the Native American Culture. The chapter will have a fundraiser starting at 8:30 a.m. Oct. 17 at the Baldwin City Maple Leaf Festival. Members will meet at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at the home of Shari Johnson, 1616 St. Andrews.
