Baker football takes on Culver-Stockton

? Downtrodden Culver-Stockton will be the competition for Baker University’s homecoming football game today.

Culver-Stockton has dropped 22 games in a row. The Wildcats haven’t won since a 23-20 decision over Evangel in 2007.

Kickoff will be 2 p.m. at Liston Stadium.

Baker (1-2) was idle last week after pounding Avila, 41-0, two weeks ago.

Senior running back Richie Bryant rushed for a season-high 165 yards in the victory over Avila and averages 97.7 rushing yards a game, second best in the Heart of America Athletic Conference.

Senior quarterback Mack Brown is closing in on 7,000 career passing yards. The Wildcats’ all-time leading passer has thrown for 6,967 yards in three-plus seasons.

Senior kicker Derek Doerfler is also chasing a milestone. Doerfler has 39 career field goals, two shy of Mike Gardner’s school record of 41 set in the late 1980s.

At halftime of today’s game, Clarence Hawk, David Johnson, Charlotte Lewis Piper, Jerry Steele and Dan Harris will be recognized after their Friday night induction into BU’s Athletic Hall of Fame.
