100 years ago: Bank robber denied temporary housing

November 29, 2009

From the Lawrence Daily World for Nov. 29, 1909: “A local family has offered to take a young former bank robber in Eudora into their home since he apparently was duped by Ross Bullock, who was in two robberies, killed a lawman and then killed himself after the second robbery attempt recently. The youth is Willie McKay but judge Hugh Means denied the effort to take him into a local home for fear he will run from the county when he has the chance. The youth, of course, says he never again will commit a crime.”
