— Tiger Woods was injured early Friday when he lost control of his SUV outside his Florida mansion, and a local police chief said Woods’ wife used a golf club to smash out the back window to help get him out.

The world’s No. 1 golfer was treated and released from a hospital in good condition, his spokesman said. The Florida Highway Patrol said Woods’ vehicle hit a fire hydrant and a tree in his neighbor’s yard after he pulled out of his driveway at 2:25 a.m.

Windermere police chief Daniel Saylor told The Associated Press that officers found the 33-year-old PGA star laying in the street with his wife, Elin, hovering over him.

She told officers she was in the house when she heard the accident and “came out and broke the back window with a golf club,” he said. “She supposedly got him out and laid him on the ground. He was in and out of consciousness when my guys got there.”

He said Woods had lacerations to his upper and lower lips, and blood in his mouth; officers treated Woods for about 10 minutes until an ambulance arrived.

The Florida Highway Patrol said Woods was alone in his 2009 Cadillac when he pulled out of his driveway from his mansion at Isleworth, a gated waterfront community just outside Orlando.

The patrol reported Woods’ injuries as serious, although Woods spokesman Glenn Greenspan issued a statement that Woods was treated and released.

It is widely rumored 'lil Tiger was having an ongoing affair and his wifie found out about it. They got into a huge fight, he left, she came out to his vehicle and was beating it with a golf club, he was distracted backing out, got into accident, she went and broke windows with said golf club, rescued him.

Guess he'll need a new driver after she destroyed this one!

When golf clubs are outlawed, only outlaws will play golf...

Honestly, your going to cheat on your model wife AND give up half your billion dollars? I will give Tiger the benefit of the doubt on this, but can't wait to hear the 911 tapes.

oh, but womyn are never the perps of violence...according to some including posters on here. so, couldn't be that his wife got violent, only men, and all men, are potential perps, brimming over with evil intent, looking for any opportunity to oppress and physically harm womyn.

no, I'm sure that Elin was upset about the tabloid reports of a Tiger affair, but being a womyn, she would never have lifted a golf club in anger. no, they were up at 2:15a.m. because they were quietly reading books in the garden and then suddenly Mr. Woods decided to violently attack his totally innocent wife, and after doing so, he was going to an all-night liquorstore, or was cruising for other womyn he could assault, he being a man and all.

Reading more and more about it, and delaying until Sunday your police statement puts the story in motion, I guess.

The news ticker on Fox yesterday was claiming he was "seriously injured". Umm, since when is some facial cuts/lacerations a "serious" injury? Ridiculous.

Then again, it was Fox News...I guess I shouldn't be too surprised...

Something DOES smell fishy here. Asking to delay the interviews makes it look like they needed time to get their story straight.

SWJayhawk - HIm drifting in and out of consciousness could look like a serious injury in the beginning stages. Not that I am defending FOX news by any means.

She beat him with his golf club. How appropriate, and probably deserved.

Nah, she'd never been married before me. I was probably #1 in a long line of failed-to-be Hollywood type marriages. But that's okay since karma can be a bitch.

p>tmz.com is all over the story, and believe it or not, they are pretty reliable. They say his facial injuries where before the accident, and she was hitting the car with the club and he was distracted, also he was on pain medication. Give him credit, no good comes from he hitting a women, no matter if she starts it, walk or drive away.
