Haskell women improve to 11-2

? Justina George totaled 24 points, eight rebounds and five steals, and Haskell Indian Nations University defeated Johnson Wales, 87-51, on Friday in women’s college basketball.

Johnson Wales hit just 29 percent of its shots, while Haskell shot 48.5 percent from two-point range and 63 percent from three-point range. The Indians also connected on 17 of 24 free throws.

“Overall, it was a good shooting night for us,” Haskell coach Phil Homeratha said, “and that’s what we need.”

Marinda Rowland came off the bench to score seven points and grab seven rebounds in 12 minutes. Maria Parker had 12 points, and Kayla Davis scored eight, as 13 HINU players scored

“It was a good game because we got everybody to play.” Homeratha said.

Haskell improved to 11-2, the best 13-game start since HINU became a four-year school.

“I’m proud of the kids,” Homeratha said.

Haskell will play Midland Lutheran (Fremont, Neb.) at 1 p.m. today as the Johnson Wales Classic concludes.
