The staff of Munchers Bakery, 925 Iowa, will honor Mike Tennyson, owner/operator, with an open house celebration. The staff is celebrating Tennyson’s 20 years in the business and will serve cake and coffee. The celebration, open to the public, will begin at 10 a.m. Dec. 5.

Tennyson has been an active member of the community his entire life. He started in the bakery business at 16, working for Dillons, Rusty’s IGA, Sutton North in Topeka, Venture in Kansas City, Kan., and Skaggs Alpha Beta in Texas. Tennyson returned to Lawrence and purchased Munchers on Dec. 5, 1989.

He has supported the United Way, Van Go Mobile Arts, the MS society and public radio. Tennyson is also a member of the Chamber of Commerce.
