100 years ago: KU fans looking forward to Missouri game

From the Lawrence Daily World for Nov. 25, 1909: All the talk around here today is about the Kansas-Missouri football game in Kansas City tomorrow, Thanksgiving Day. KU is unbeaten in eight games and is a heavy favorite. A huge crowd is expected and many will go from here by special trains that have been lined up. . . . Representatives of the pure food department of Kansas have found that they are new enough on the job that judges in court sometimes are hostile because they do not understand the job at hand. A number of inspections have shown bad behavior in the food business, including a recent watering of local milk. . . . The street car line has had a number of difficulties in lining out their lines for university service but progress seems to be occurring and the regents will study the matter to decide on final status of the line on and around the campus. . . . Work of tunneling for utilities to the university campus are about completed and much of the work is due to be finished by Christmas. . . . New rules are in effect at the post office for this Christmas and it is well to see how those rules affect your mailing plans.
