100 years ago: Invitations for KU-Missouri game sent

From the Lawrence Daily World for Nov. 12, 1909: The University Club of Kansas City has sent invitations to the faculty members of the universities of Kansas and Missouri inviting them to make their headquarters at their club rooms when they arrive in Kansas City for the Thanksgiving Day Kansas-Missouri football game on Nov. 26. The girls of both universities are invited to make their headquarters at the Kansas City Women’s Athletic Club rooms. . . . Officials here to make a full-scale military map of Douglas County are about done with their surveying and measuring and will soon be gone to get their material in print. . . . The government is winner in the suit to dissolve the Standard Oil Co. The decision is sweeping and will have broad repercussions for some time. Standard stock closed today at 685, down 17 points. . . . The Kansas football team played the Iowa Hawkeyes off their feet in a 20-7 victory here. The Kansas line was like a stone wall to the Iowa plungers. The outcome of the game was never in doubt. Unbeaten KU, at 8-0, now plays Missouri in Kansas City on Nov. 26 as it pursues a second straight unbeaten season.
