LMH board meets Wednesday morning; 2010 budget on agenda

The 2010 budget is on the agenda for Wednesday morning’s Lawrence Memorial Hospital’s Board of Trustee meeting. The hospital anticipates a profit of $9 million, down 23 percent from $11.7 million in 2008, and down 35 percent from $14 million in 2007.

“While we are forecasting increases in inpatient days and outpatient activity, significant increases in bad debt and charity care will challenge the hospital’s bottom line,” CEO and President Gene Meyer said in a letter to the board.

The board meeting begins at 8 a.m. in the hospital auditorium, 325 Maine, and is open to the public.

Among the agenda highlights:

• Jane Stevens, director of media strategies for The World Company, will give a presentation about plans for a new community-based health Web site.

• Dana Hale, vice president of nursing, will give an update on the hospital’s goal to train more nurses to perform sexual assault exams.
