The Lawrence United Fund drive stood $18,000 short of its goal of $103,790 and the deadline was Nov. 20. William Womack was drive chairman and he said the campaign would be cut off on schedule whether or not the goal was reached.
A young man found guilty of starting a fire in a KU dormitory was put on probation and ordered to pay for the damages of about $1,200.
