Funeral home reports benches stolen

Lawrence Funeral Chapel, 3821 W. Sixth St., reported Tuesday the theft of two outdoor benches valued at a total of $1,000.

According to a police report, the iron and oak benches were allegedly taken from the business sometime between 5:30 p.m. Monday and 7:30 a.m. Tuesday.

that is just awful, have things gotten so bad that people have to steal from the dead?

I was thinking the same thing. Who the heck steals from funeral homes? Lame.

They are attractive benches, and rather heavy so it had to have been someone with a truck. What would you do with these? Look at your neighbors to see if there is something new in their yard. Just thought, considering the price of funerals, it might have been someone who thought this was a way to pay for the burial. Might want to check Craig's List.

Stealing is a bad deal reguardless of who the victim is. I am a little tickled by some of these posts though ("stealing from the dead"), try to keep in mind funeral homes are not Church's people...
