A patriotic ceremony in South Park in connection with Veterans Day was marred when an American Legionnaire struck a Kansas University student at the event after the student had indicated displeasure with Vietnam War involvement by the United States.

Hallmark Cards gave $19,193 to the local United Fund drive, more than $2,400 beyond any previous amount the firm had provided. From the outset of United Fund activity here, Hallmark had annually been one of the major forces in meeting goals.
