Offices, services to close in honor of Veterans Day

Several government offices in the area will be closed Wednesday in observance of Veterans Day.
Douglas County District Court will be closed, as will administrative and district court offices in Jefferson, Franklin and Leavenworth counties.
Lawrence city and Douglas County administrative offices will be open.
City offices in Baldwin City, Eudora, Oskaloosa and Ottawa will be closed. McLouth City Hall will be open.
All state and federal offices will be closed.
Banks will be closed.
Lawrence Transit System buses will run. City of Lawrence refuse and trash collection will not be affected.
Lawrence Public Library will be open.
Senior Services of Douglas County will not be affected, and the Lawrence Senior Center, 745 Vt., will be open.
The U.S. Postal Service will not make regular deliveries, and post offices will be closed.
UPS and FedEx will make deliveries.
USA Today will be delivered.

Ummmm….This is a no-brainer. Veterans day is more important than Christmas.

Yeah, and most of the veterans who do not work for the banks or the government have to work.
Some holiday!
What a crock, a few get a holiday dedicated to those who served their country, and most of the true veterans have to go to work. Seems pretty lousy to me.
