A block of Emery Road near the Kansas University campus is closed to through traffic, as city crews work to repair a ruptured sewer line that has “compromised” the road, Lawrence police said this morning.

Sgt. Craig Shanks reports that Emery is closed to through traffic from Ninth Street to Sigma Nu Place. Only residents along the road are being allowed through.

A minor accident also occurred near the site, said Kim Murphree, a police spokeswoman.

As of 10 a.m., she said, “there is no word on how long the road will be closed.”
