Three men were arrested early Sunday on charges of battery and felony criminal damage after an incident in the 900 block of Tennessee.

According to Lawrence Police Sgt. Susan Hadl, the men, two from Shawnee and one from Missouri, were involved in criminal damage to a residence and battery that occurred at a party that spanned two residences. The Shawnee men were 18 and 23 years old while the Missouri man was 24 years old.

Police responded to a report of a large disturbance about 1:30 a.m. Sunday. When the first officer arrived, a man took off running eastbound from the 900 block of Tennessee. The man was detained shortly thereafter in an alley in the 200 block of West 10th.

Witnesses and victims identified the man and two others as suspects associated with the criminal damage and battery.

No one was seriously injured in the incident.

Need to put up some check point stops and stop cars coming in from Topeka and KC Check drivers licenses, registrations and for guns and drugs You would be able to keep some of these incidents from happening in Lawrence

if ku become a school for scholars only, get rid of sports, get rid of the ones here because daddy moneybags insist their less than capable kids go to college because, we'll because a degree is just an other dumbed down token to move into the corporate world perhaps we wouldn't be facing so many of these kinds of incidences. america it is time to re-evaluate.

Hehehe. Irish, here is one example.

You know how a man used to be able to walk a girl to her car after leaving an establishment at night, and stand there and talk to her for a while? Lingering, flirting, he of course trying to talk her into something more? Or they have already arrived at the car and are waiting for another friend who might be saying goodbye or paying a bill inside, flirting outside the door, making arrangements ?

Well, those things are bit more dangerous now. Parking spaces close to the main areas are so full late Fri and Sat nights, that people circle and circle the lots trying to find a space close by, waiting for one to open up.

I happen to have witnessed this a few times not long ago downtown.

Groups of college aged guys would see the people walking to their car, and drive around hoping they were about to back out. Nope, so they circle. They get waved along. They circle, looking. You hear cursing, rude comments. They circle, louder cursing. I've seen them get out of the car and come up the vehicle, bang on it. Honk the horn.

They approach the man talking to the woman telling them to go get a room and get the hell out of the parking lot cause they need the parking space. And they were still waiting on others inside.

It was really noisy in the parking lot at 11th and Vermont last night. Couples fighting around 2 and again 3am. Is there something about parking lots that encourages violence? I thought about going down to see about it, then thought that by the time I got downstairs they would be gone. Then I went back to sleep. I would like to know what kind of damage happened to the residence. The party spanned two houses? And, they say neighbors don't know each other any more.

According to the Douglas Country Sheriffs Office, they were not all from Shawnee. In fact, one is from Lawrence.

The city should close down Tennessee and Ohio.
